Job Title: Technical Director
Description: This position requires advanced level training and a few years of practical
work experience. This position reports directly to the producer/artistic director and
works closely with guest directors and other staff members. Salary is negotiable plus health insurance for this full time position.
1. Qualified applicants should be highly skilled in at least 1 of 3 areas of design,
including set, lights or sound-but must be willing to learn and operate other
areas.
2. Will supervise all areas of design in creation of the “world of the play”,
including but not limited to props, costumes, projections, lights, sound and
set design. Designs should be in keeping with Venture’s aesthetic-simple,
beautiful and evocative.
3. Must be able to communicate, supervise, and organize all volunteers for work
calls, performances and strikes.
4. Say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’
5. Will co-ordinate and help facilitate the needs of guest designers and lead all
production meetings.
6. Must be able to set and meet deadlines. Must be able to multi-task several
different productions at different stages of development. Venture houses
two different theatres in its building: A 100 seat black box and a 180 seat
proscenium. Qualified applicants must be able to balance and maintain all
technical requirements for both theatres.
7. Must maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
8. May be called upon to assist in the general maintenance of the building
